About The Feldenkrais Method®
The Feldenkrais Method is about learning how to change yourself from the inside out - you become more aware of your habits in movement and posture as Mary facilitates and organizes your movement with you. You can feel where you don’t use yourself so well and, by learning how to integrate all of your body in your movement, you increase your comfort, strength and balance in everyday functional activities.
For example, through hands-on individual lessons called Functional Integration, you learn fluent and organized movement of all parts of your body to assist with pain and injuries in particular places. The head, eyes, pelvis and feet feel connected better to allow structures above and below to function more happily.
The Feldenkrais Method may often feel very gentle and differs to physiotherapy techniques in that there is always a whole-of-body awareness built in. As we grow older we often come to believe that sore muscles and stiff joints are what we have become. The Feldenkrais Method is an excellent way to embody the youthfulness that is being hidden within you - removing the masking effects of ineffectual stuck habits.
